Capnostream 20 Monitor

Capnostream™ 20p Bedside Monitor with
Apnea-Sat Alert Algorithm

The Capnostream™ 20p patient monitor with Microstream™ technology provides a complete measurement of a patient’s oxygenation and ventilation status.

We sell the Capnostream 20 monitors refurbished, calibrated with new
cables, hose attachment and new battery. Monitor carts are also available.

The Capnostream™ 20p patient monitor is built on a legacy of proven performance. For nearly two decades, clinicians have relied on Microstream™ technology for an accurate, continuous view of ventilation adequacy on intubated and non-intubated patients, from neonate to adult. The new Capnostream™ 20p monitor, with the Apnea-Sat Alert feature, alerts caregivers to repetitive patterns of apneas and oxygen desaturation, revealing a more complete picture of a patient’s respiratory status.

Normal Capnography Waveform

The capnography waveform depicts the concentration of CO2 in the breath, and has a generally uniform square-like morphology with consistent frequency. The frequency of the waveform is calculated to determine respiratory rate. For healthy adults, the breathing pattern occurs approximately every 3-5 seconds, which signifies a normal respiratory rate between 12-20 breaths per minute.

The baseline of the waveform is normally at zero, this is because inspired air contains very little CO2 (less than 0.5%). There are four phases to a waveform, at the completion of each breath cycle the waveform should return to baseline. For a normal healthy patient the amplitude of the waveform should be 35-45 mmHg at the peak, and this peak is the end tidal CO2 (etCO2) reading.

  • The Capnostream™ 20p patient monitor with Microstream™ includes Smart Alarm Management™ Integrated Algorithms, a suite of algorithms proven to reduce alarms and simplify the use of patient monitoring to enhance patient safety and improve clinical efficiency.

Smart Breath Detection™

  • Screens out low amplitude ‘non-breath’ etCO2 excursions like, talking, crying or snoring.

Smart Alarm for Respiratory Analysis™ (SARA)

  • Reduces clinically insignificant alarms.

Nellcor™ SatSeconds

  • Alerts clinicians to clinically significant changes in pulse oximetry.

Integrated Pulmonary Index™ Algorithm (IPI )

  • IPI algorithm presents one value that demonstrates real-time respiratory status based on etCO2, RR, PR and SpO2.††

Apnea-Sat Alert™ Algorithm (ASA )†††

  • Tracks and reports apneas per hour and oxygen desaturation index, and provides the data in trend reports.

Connectivity

  • Compatible with central monitoring systems and interfaces with nurse call systems and electronic medical records.

Internal Printer

  • Provides convenient bedside documentation.
