Copper Hospital Beds Reducing Bacteria Levels and Infectious Disease
A new copper surface on hospital beds is being offered to hospitals and
is sure to set a new standard for patient care by reducing infectious disease
outbreaks with a 80% reduction in bacteria counts in patient rooms. The
new “copper” hospital beds switch out the bed rails which are known to be
the area with the highest bacteria counts in patient rooms.

Copper Hospital Beds Kill Bacteria, Save Lives – Article

Washington, DC – November 8, 2019 – A new study has found that copper hospital beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) harbored an average of 95 percent fewer bacteria than conventional hospital beds, and maintained these low-risk levels throughout patients’ stay in hospital.
The research is published this week in Applied and Environmental Microbiology, a journal of the American Society for Microbiology.
